"Mélancolie", FP 105 is one of Francis Poulenc's most popular works for solo piano. It was composed in 1940 while France was occupied by Nazi Germany, and was published in 1945 when the war was over.
The bassoon will require a low A extension to play the arrangement as written. It should be inserted for the beginning of the piece, and needs to be removed during the two measure rest at measure 71. If an extension is not accessible, play the low A's up an octave.
